School visits are arranged to take place outside standard opening hours.
Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri morning between 9am & 11am and Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri afternoon between 1pm & 3pm
Youth groups may visit any weekday evening from 4pm onwards.
Please let us know your current topics of study and we will endeavour to include aspects of this in your visit.
In addition to looking around the museum we can offer small group work such as dressing up, drawing, handling artefacts, quizzes (picture & written) etc.
Visits are arranged to take place outside standard opening hours, preferably in the evening (from 7pm).
If you require a daytime visit or a Saturday visit please contact us for availability.
With notice we can carry out a little research on a particular subject of interest to your group.
The Museum Historian is also able to give your group a talk or town walk if required.
With prior notice we can provide your group with light refreshments - tea/coffee/biscuits.
We also welcome Care Home Groups to visit the Museum and an afternoon visit (between 1pm and 4.30pm) can be a personalised to suit, giving you plenty of time to explore.
To cover running costs etc we ask for a minimum donation of £25
If your school or group is unable to visit the Museum we may be able to visit you.
A visit to your school can be used to complement your current area of study.
A visit to your care home is a great way to stimulate the memories of your clients.
We can visit you and bring a range of artefacts, photos and music to help rekindle memories.
With forward planning we can tailor the visit to the needs and interests of your clients.
The Museum Historian is also available to attend your group/club meeting to give you a talk (see below).
